1. Who we are and who this is for
DetailGig is an online marketplace operated by Powered by OTM ("DetailGig", "we", "us"). It lets businesses that need auto detailing ("posters") publish jobs, and independent detailing businesses ("contractors") bid on and perform them. DetailGig is for businesses only. By creating an account you confirm you're acting on behalf of a business, you're at least 18, and you have authority to bind that business to these terms.
2. Your account
- Keep your login private. You're responsible for everything done under your account and your business profile.
- Give accurate information about your business, services, insurance and tax status. Verified badges are based on documents you upload; misrepresenting them is grounds for removal.
- One business profile per business. Staff can be added as members of that profile.
- We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms, abuse other users, or create risk for the platform (chargebacks, fraud, safety).
3. What DetailGig is — and isn't
DetailGig provides the listing, bidding, messaging, proof-of-work and payment tools. We are not a party to the detailing work itself. Contractors are independent businesses: they choose which jobs to bid on, set their own prices, and control how the work is done. They are not employees, agents or subcontractors of DetailGig, and DetailGig doesn't supervise, insure or guarantee their work. Posters and contractors are each responsible for their own licenses, insurance, taxes and compliance.
4. Jobs, bids and awards
- A published job is an invitation to bid, not an order. A bid is an offer to do the described work at the stated price and start.
- When a poster accepts a bid (an "award") both sides have agreed to the job at that price. The poster must fund the job within the funding window shown (currently 48 hours) or the award lapses.
- Repeated award withdrawals, no-shows or non-funding count against a business's standing and can lead to suspension.
- Job details visible to the public are limited to city, ZIP, vehicles, services, dates and budget. The exact address is revealed only to the awarded contractor once the job is funded.
5. Payments, holding and release
DetailGig is the merchant of record for job payments and uses Stripe to process them. When a job is awarded the poster pays the full bid amount to DetailGig. We hold those funds and release them to the contractor when:
- the poster approves the submitted proof of work, or
- 72 hours pass after the contractor submits proof and the poster has neither approved nor opened a dispute (automatic approval), or
- DetailGig support resolves a dispute in the contractor's favor.
Contractors receive payouts through Stripe Connect to the bank account they connect. Stripe's own terms apply to that account. Payout timing after release depends on Stripe, typically a couple of business days.
6. Platform fee
Posting and bidding are free. When a job is awarded a platform fee is deducted from the contractor's payout. The fee and the resulting net payout are shown to the contractor at award and are fixed at that moment; a later change to the fee schedule never applies to a job that has already been awarded. The current schedule is 10% of the bid amount with a $2.00 minimum. Card processing costs are covered by that fee.
7. Cancellations and refunds
- Either side may cancel an awarded job before work starts. The poster is refunded in full.
- Once work has started, cancellation goes through support so we can account for work already done.
- Refunds go back to the original payment method through Stripe.
- If a poster's payment is later reversed by their bank (a chargeback), the job is frozen and DetailGig may recover released funds from the contractor only where the reversal was caused by the contractor's conduct.
8. Disputes
Once proof has been submitted, either side can open a dispute before the automatic-approval deadline. Opening a dispute freezes the payment. DetailGig support reviews the job description, the message thread and the before/after photos, may ask either side for more information, and decides on a full release, a full refund, or a split. That decision is final as far as the DetailGig payment is concerned. It doesn't stop either party from pursuing the other directly under applicable law.
9. Proof of work and photos
Contractors agree to upload genuine before and after photos of the actual vehicles. Posters agree to review promptly. Photos and messages may be reviewed by DetailGig support during a dispute. Don't upload images of people, plates or documents that aren't needed to show the work.
10. Reviews
After a job completes both sides can rate each other. Reviews are double-blind (published when both are in, or after a set period) and must be honest and about the job. We may remove reviews that are abusive, off-topic, or clearly retaliatory.
11. Taxes
Contractors are responsible for their own taxes. Payouts are made through Stripe, which issues any required tax forms (such as Form 1099-K) directly to the contractor based on the information in their Stripe account. Posters are responsible for any sales or use tax that applies to the services they purchase.
12. Acceptable use
- No off-platform payment for jobs found here. Circumventing the marketplace defeats the payment protection both sides rely on and is grounds for removal.
- No harassment, discrimination, spam or scraping.
- No posting jobs you don't intend to award, and no bidding on jobs you can't perform.
- Don't share another party's address, phone or documents outside the job it was shared for.
13. Liability
DetailGig provides the platform as-is. To the fullest extent the law allows, we aren't liable for the quality of any detailing work, for damage to vehicles or property, for lost profits, or for indirect damages. Our total liability to you for anything arising from these terms is limited to the platform fees we received from you in the twelve months before the claim. Some jurisdictions don't allow certain limits, in which case these apply as far as they're permitted.
14. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; the date at the top tells you when. Material changes will be announced in the app. Continuing to use DetailGig after a change means you accept it. Questions: support@poweredbyotm.com. See also our Privacy Policy and How it works.
